Happy February to all! Here are a few things going on in my art practice this month
PORTRAIT OF MY MOTHER
As the holidays of 2023 approached, I finished this portrait of my mother, done in pan pastel, charcoal pencil and white charcoal pencil. She is still beautiful after all these years!

POPLAR CREEK LIBRARY EXHIBIIT
As 2024 gets underway, I have been asked to do a show at the poplar Creek Library in May/June. My work will be on display for two months. I am working toward the goal of displaying as much new work as possible. Some will feature the addition of silver and/or gold leaf. One of my blogs was about the progress I made on "Geisha", and after a hiatus of a couple of months, I am back to completing this composition. She will definitely be part of the show! I will do a follow-up blog on her when she is done. Stay tuned for more information on this show.
ART BEAT MAGAZINE
The February issue of Fox Valley Art Beat Magazine will feature an article I wrote on two unstoppable artistic forces in the Harlem Renaissance: Alain Locke and Aaron Douglas. Look for it: https://www.foxvalleyartbeat.com
